4 things you must learn to change your life forever

We want to know the magic formula to achieve success and if that is not enough, we want to find the entrance to the easy way; to that short route.

This is because the media shows us people becoming millionaires in 1-hour programs and reality shows of young people who do not know the limitation of money.

We cannot let these results cloud our process! Nobody gets to the top overnight. Everyone took a series of steps, prepared, took risks, fell, got up, and learned.

Although the paths of every successful person are different, common factors can be identified, and knowing them could help us change our lives forever and of course, achieve our goals. Want to know what they are?

Tim Ferriss defines those common factors as “tools”. Tim is known worldwide as a successful entrepreneur, advisor, and/or investor in companies such as Facebook, Uber, Evernote, among others.

He is also a writer of multiple books, including the bestseller entitled The 4-Hour Work Week and his latest book Tools of Titans.

These “tools” that he has compiled in his book, are the result of hundreds of interviews with successful people (123 to be exact), from different areas. Among those who are successful are Chris Sacca, Tony Robbins, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Let’s look at some of them:

1. Invest in yourself

If the goal is to achieve our goals, we should not hesitate to think that we are the most important “asset”. So if we invest in ourselves, there is sure to be a good return on investment.

When Tim asked Tony Robbins what his best investment had been, the answer was simple: “$35 for a 3-hour Jim Rohn seminar.

Warren Buffett’s answer was similar: “A talk given by Dale Carnegie. For those who don’t know him, Dale is known as the author of the book, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

2. Be consistent

This advice is so simple and so obvious that very few people pay the necessary attention to it and actually apply it.

If we want to build a wall, we will never finish if we stop laying bricks in the middle. Or if we want to take care of our plants, we can’t stop watering them.

Just think, Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn’t have gotten the body he had if he had stopped going to the gym.

We gain knowledge and then we take action, that’s great, but we can’t forget that taking action once is useless if we don’t do it constantly.

3. Have morning routines

It’s no accident that many successful people have routines. According to Tim, 80% of his interviewees use some form of meditation in the morning. There are many routines, the important thing is to know why they are good.

It is no surprise to anyone that small victories create a “momentum”, an impulse. For example, if you’re a football player and your team has won three games in a row and by a goal, it creates a winning streak that is hard to stop.

The principle is the same, simply a ritual in the morning what you are looking for is that we start the morning “winning”, to impulse us and have an excellent day.

Tim gives us an example. Getting up, making our bed, meditating, exercising, drinking good tea, and reading a little. Simple, we nourish our body and mind and are driven to start a great day.

This allows you:

  • Define good rules to apply when making decisions. You ask good questions, so you find good answers.
  • Plan for the long term and manage resources well.
  • Be resilient, endure, and overcome disasters and difficulties.

4. Taking action

We face different situations every day, from the simplest to the most complex; and we only have 3 alternatives.

This is how Naval Ravikant, CEO and co-founder of AngelList, sees it. Naval has invested in more than 100 companies among which Twitter, Uber, and Yammer stand out.

“In any situation, we only have 3 options: We can change, accept, or abandon. What is not right is to sit around and wait to change it and not do it, to wish we could leave it and not leave it, and finally not accept it. That’s the problem, that aversion, that’s responsible for much of our misery. The word that I probably use more inside my head is: I accept. Naval says.

Let’s not wait for things to happen, let’s take action.
