Things you can do every day to feel happy

Sometimes we tend to forget that we are privileged people living in privileged times and we complain about things that really don’t make much sense.

What happens is that in everyday life with its routines and regulations it can be difficult to do things in a proactive way that makes us feel happy.

Today I want to leave you with some ideas of things you can do everyday to feel happy:

  • Seek the company of positive, optimistic and happy people.
  • Avoid toxic people like the plague. They will suck all the energy out of you.
  • Avoid gossip. “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people” – Eleanor Roosevelt
  • Learn to be in the now. Much of the unhappiness comes from getting stuck in past regrets and fears about the future – the past and the future don’t really exist, only the now.
  • Walk on. Walking is by far the healthiest exercise for the body and mind.
  • Minimize stress as much as possible. It is important that you realize that your addictive habits are the ones that add the most stress in your life.
  • Meditate. Preferably twice a day for 20 minutes. But a few minutes here and there (especially when you are feeling stressed) is better than never meditating at all.
  • Eat smaller, lighter and healthier portions.
  • Drink less coffee
  • Avoid drama and the people who cause it.
